Parent Resources from VPIRC

The Virginia PTA has partnered with the Virginia Parent Information Resource Center (VPIRC). Each month VPIRC provides a calendar of ideas about how to become involved with your children.

What is VPIRC?

The Virginia Parent Information and Resource Center (VPIRC) is a US Department of Education-funded program aimed at improving student academic performance by increasing parental involvement in children’s education and promoting school-family-community partnerships. They offer workshops, publications, toolkits, newsletters, fact sheets, and technical assistance to parents, PTA’s and other parent groups, schools, school districts, and community organizations. Some of their Trainings and Resources are also available in Spanish. 100% of their services are free!

VPIRC is Virginia’s Parent Information Resource Center funded by the US Department of Education to improve children’s school success by:

  • Supporting effective parental involvement policies, programs, and activities
  • Developing and strengthening partnerships among parents, teachers, principals, administrators, and other school personnel
  • Coordinating their PIRC activities with other parental involvement initiatives under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act
  • Teaching parents of young children as their first teachers

For more information go to the VPIRC website.
