Meet Your Board Member – Michelle Prescott, Health and Safety Chair

Michelle Prescott currently serves as our Health and Safety Chair. She is a School Nurse at Rena B. Wright Primary in Chesapeake. She received her BSN from Duke University School of Nursing. She has been married to Steve for 26 years and is the mother of Elizabeth, Tom, Katie, Andrew and Rachel who currently range in age from 15-25. Michelle also serves on the Chesapeake School Health Advisory Board, volunteers at the Chesapeake Free Clinic, sings Soprano II at her church and is a nationally certified school nurse and asthma educator. She has been involved in PTA for several years including serving as PTA President at Norfolk Highlands Primary, Sparrow Road Intermediate and at Indian River Middle School. At the Council level she has served as Scholarship Chair for the Chesapeake Council of PTAs and prior to becoming the Health and Safety chair she served two terms as the Southeastern District Director. Michelle has also served on the Virginia PTA LTC Committee, Convention Committee, Parental Involvement, Secondary and Resolutions Committees as well as Health and Safety Committee. Awards that she has received include Council Volunteer of the year and the Virginia PTA Life Membership award. Michelle also played a key role in getting Virginia PTA's resolution, Dangers of Alcoholic Energy Drink, adopted at National Convention in 2009! When she has spare time, she enjoys reading, board games, cross stitch and spending time with her family!
