Parental Involvement Corner

2010, a new year, a new decade. Time for resolutions. Far too often we set goals that are impossible to achieve (lose 50lbs, win the lottery, exercise more, etc...). Why not set some goals that are obtainable and within reach? Below are my Parental Involvement Top 10 Resolutions for 2010.

Parental Involvement Top 10 Resolutions

In 2010, I resolve to...

10) Utilize the Three For Me program (www.three4me.com)
9) Attend at least 1 school board meeting so I'm aware of decisions affecting the schools in my community
8) Turn the TV off one night per week and spend that time reading with/to my child
7) Volunteer to be a parent chaperone for my child's field trips
6) Spend one day a month (typically on the date of their birth) doing something special with my child (play games, go for a walk, have ice cream,etc..)
5) Listen more when my child is speaking
4) Know my child's friends and their parents
3) Know what homework my child has daily
2) Know what PTA is doing in my child's school
1) Use my talents to help my child's school succeed

I'd love to hear your feedback as to how doing these things bring you and your child closer together. Email me at parenting@vapta.org.
